It’s really easy right now just to buy cheap artwork from high street stores, but as a small business runner, I know exactly how much it means when someone makes a purchase. Not only that, by shopping small you know those pennies are going to a great place and not just padding out a giant corporations pocket.
I love that small, independent artists put their all into what they produce, and I love supporting their creations by buying from them. So here’s a little run down of my favourite artists who are producing some really fantastic prints and totally bossin’ it right now;
Alien Artistries
This one is for all the space lovers out there – Sarah from Alien Artistries creates STUNNING, out of this world, space landscapes.
She has a selection of space and planetscapes perfectly presented on canvas, like this magenta sea original acrylic on canvas painting
plus a selection of prints, like this beautiful Mars over London A4 print
Sarah also does commissions – get ready to be blown away by these fantastic drum cymbal paintings!
The attention to detail is exquisite!
Sweet Allure
If you love Disney, Harry Potter and cute watercolours you will absolutely love Tarnya from Sweet Allure’s prints, which include this stunning Harry Potter stag patronus print
and this silhouette of Belle for those Beauty & The Beast fans
DorkFace
Jemma is a creative force to be reckoned with – she’s always putting her all into everything she does, and I just love her Instagram Stories which sometimes features work in progress! Expect bold, bright and colour jammed art, like this explore print which just bursts out with personality.
If you love flowers, then this fabulous ‘Floral Paradise’ print will seriously brighten up any room
or if you’re looking for a slightly different style, you can find this ‘Flower Garden’ print that features beautiful watercolour flowers
A Tiny Mew
If you love tattoo style art, then you will be awestruck by A Tiny Mew’s beautiful collection of art prints inspired by classic tattoo designs. I just had to pick up this beautiful Magpie Art Print
Her art is just so VIBRANT and the detail is absolutely exquisite – I’ve not yet had time to frame my print yet, so I’m hoping to grab a black or gold frame soon for this beauty!
If you’re a Star Wars lover, you can pick up this amazing Darth Vader print, plus a sea themed Nautilus print
Pastel Elixir
Ellis at Pastel Elixir does the most amazingly cute prints ever – if you love animals, unicorns, and mermaids, her prints will be right up your street!
This adorable Create Print is super fun
Or if you have a bit of a sweet tooth, this hot chocolate postcard looks just delicious – don’t we all just love yummy things?!
I’m especially blown away by her beautiful animal illustrations, like this gorgeous Majestic Stag Print
Displaying Prints
Most of the prints I have purchased make up a ‘feature wall’ where I have used washi tape to hang everything up;
As you can see I’ve got a pastel-esque style going on to compliment my desks turquoise / blue colour scheme and I love love love it. But what I love more, is that I know these purchases helped support other creatives, and hopefully helps them continue creating! So next time you’re thinking about buying some cool prints, stationary or anything from a high street store – think about putting a few extra ££ in and supporting a small business instead.
If you would love to support small artists but you don’t have any money for a print, Tarnya from Sweet Allure wrote an amazing blog post that shares five ways to support small business
